Hibernia Park

is located in the area of New Lenox IL and is a popular spot for residents and visitors alike. The park features a variety of amenities and activities, including a playground, picnic pavilions, walking trails, and a fishing pond.

The land that is now Hibernia Park was purchased by the Village of New Lenox in 1909 for $1,500. The park was originally named after the village's founder, John Hibernia Plankinton. Plankinton was an Irishman who immigrated to America in 1834 and eventually settled in the area of New Lenox. The park was created as a place for residents to enjoy the outdoors and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Over the years, Hibernia Park has undergone several changes. In 1923, a playground was built in the park thanks to a donation from the New Lenox Women's Club. In recent years, the park has undergone a major renovation that included the addition of new walking trails, picnic pavilions, and a fishing pond.

Today, Hibernia Park is still a popular destination for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're looking to take a stroll through nature or just relax in the sun, Hibernia Park in the area of New Lenox is the perfect place to do it.
