Prairie Ridge Park
Prairie Ridge Park in New Lenox Illinois is a wonderful place to visit year-round. In the winter, the park provides a perfect backdrop for cross-country skiing and sleigh rides. During warmer months, visitors can walk the trails or attend events at Lake Katherine. The latter includes outdoor movies and concerts, among other things. Visitors can also enjoy fishing, picnicking, and camping at this park.
The park contains two trails: the Fox River Trail and the Maple Grove Trail. The former is a multi-purpose trail for hiking, biking, or cross country skiing whereas the latter is dedicated to hikers only. There are several access points along these trails with parking available at each one. The trails form a loop on the eastern side of the park and connect with trails for hiking and biking at nearby towns. Prairie Ridge Park also features an off-leash dog area.
